*Characters already in the game: Ambulon, G1 Frenzy

Character Information
*Character Name: Leonard Horatio McCoy (Bones being his nickname; thought that'd be pretty important to mention here, too)
*Character Canon: Star Trek XI aka Star Trek: 2009 movie
*Age: 28
*Race: Human
*Timeline/Pull Point: After the Enterprise returns from defeating Nero, shortly before Starfleet Command commends Kirk at the ceremony.

*History: Memory Alpha page
*Personality:
Right off the bat, we're introduced to McCoy as a somewhat bitter person with a penchant for alcohol and suffering from a sassy case of astrophobia and aviophobia. Aforementioned sass is part of McCoy's personality, as well as his charm. He still retains a type of "old fashioned" style in life, which is expressed through his fears of space as well as how people handle situations. (Novel apocrypha establishes his hatred for such devices as the transporter, just like his TOS counterpart, for example.) He has little to no patience for people who slack off or try to push his buttons. However, when it comes down to it, McCoy can be pretty lenient and forgiving to certain people (coughKirkcough). That doesn't mean he won't verbally slap said people upside the head and lecture them for their carelessness/etc.

McCoy has something of a short fuse, and is easily riled. He is very emotional and not afraid to express how he feels, as well as sharing his opinions. He's not afraid to tell his superior officers what's on his mind, either. This makes it hard for him to get along or see eye to eye with people such as Spock, who are mostly on the opposite end of the spectrum. Coupled with his stubbornness, McCoy is a force to be reckoned with. Does this mean he's all about getting physical? Not really.

Despite his volatile temperament, McCoy cares deeply for the safety of his patients, his friends, and crewmates. He is a devoted doctor. And through thick and thin, he will fight. Not only to protect his loved ones and those in his care, but face down enemies to those who would disagree or insult him. He'll stand up for those who are weak or cannot speak. He is fiercely loyal, and though he may give some of his friends a hard time, he cares for them very much. McCoy, however, will not always agree with his friends (like Kirk taking over the ship after Spock resigns), but he will support them if he can. And tease them, too. Mostly sarcastically... though sometimes not.

All and all, despite the bitterness, stubbornness, impatience, and hot temper, McCoy has an extremely big, caring heart full of compassion and bravery. And he's loaded with sass.

*Powers/Abilities: Leonard is a relatively skilled doctor, so his strength lies in his profession. Would his sass count as a weapon? He's got a biting tongue. But really, McCoy usually does not carry weapons, except for the standard phaser which can be used to both shock, disable, or even destroy its target. He also has a medical tricorder that can read a body's vitals as well as injuries, ailments, et cetera.
*Inventory: I'd actually would like if he arrived with a tricorder. I think that'd come in handy. Though I'd imagine it'd only work on humans or those native to the ST universe. If not, then probably just his phaser.
*Starting Polarity: Hohum, I thought Nexus would be pretty fitting, but up to you guys!

If AU, how does your character differ from canon?: N/A

Writing Samples

*First Person Sample:

[The video opens to a very frantic, very angry looking Leonard McCoy. He's got That Look; one brow creased, the other cocked. Those close to him would see the concern in the corners of his bright eyes.]

Jim! Jim, can you see me? Can you hear me? [He growls and fusses with the device.] How the Hell does this alien tech work, Goddammit... [The screen flickers with static before clearing again, and McCoy is now looking less infuriated and more concerned. A grumpy sort of concerned.]

Jim, if you can hear me, it's McCoy. If you can hear me, then you'd know it was me. I'm not sure what happened, but it seems I've found myself stuck in another dimension. [He sighs] You know what? I'm not even going to discuss how this may relate to the transporter. I just need you to tell me where you are and if you're all right. As soon as I know your location, I'll be on my way.

[McCoy glowers] Promise me you'll stay put and won't do anything stupid. Assuming you haven't all ready.

*Third Person Sample:

Oh, for God's sake. You leave Jim alone for one minute-- Leonard grunted as he scrambled over a large rock, once more slipping onto solid ground. He scowled at the tear in his science blue tunic, showing black undershirt beneath. His boots were dirtied, face smudged, and wouldn't you know it, the damn phaser was broken. Of course!

Leonard continued on his way, calling out for his (reckless) captain. He had told Jim to stay put while he finished up the vaccinations. The villagers were kindly, curious folk, and Leonard tried to keep his patience as the humanoid aliens tried to touch and rob him of his medical tools. He would have been more than happy to explain what they did - after he was finished with work and when they weren't swarming around him like children with sticky little hands. Jim took this as the perfect opportunity to flee, then, probably to chase after that blonde haired woman. Leonard thought she was cute, sure, but they had business here. Pleasure could come later. (He might have asked her out, even.)

Still, Leonard liked to believe his captain hadn't run off to chase some tail. Jim was still young and childlike in many ways - most of the time, Leonard couldn't decide if he admired that youth and energy or despised it. Because it meant doing stupid shit like this. Leonard usually always played along with Jim; always caught in the eye of the storm, and sometimes, he didn't mind. Now, however, was no time for adventure, and Leonard was too tired to go mucking about looking for his captain. Even if he knew - just knew - Jim was probably leading him into something.

"Dammit!" Leonard cursed, nearly slipping on a slick rock. He was a doctor, not an explorer. That was it; no more sharing his Romulan ale with the captain for at least a week. And this time, if he caught Jim trying to sneak into his stash, he wouldn't let him actually get away with it with only a small scowl. A hypo full of a tongue-numbing agent should do the trick.

Final Notes: Nope!
